The Plunge has been a centerpiece of the El Segundo community since its opening in 1948. Generations of families have learned to swim and created lasting memories at this historic public pool. Thankfully, the City of El Segundo is taking action to bring back The Plunge better than ever before. With a goal to raise $5 million dollars through donations, grants, and sponsorships, the city has already allocated approx. $9 million towards the total $14 million renovation project. This investment shows just how important this landmark is to the community.

Construction is set to begin this summer and is expected to take four years to complete. The reopening of The Plunge in late 2025 will be a momentous occasion for El Segundo residents and visitors alike. In the meantime, the City has organized various fundraising events and campaigns to help reach the $5 million goal.

The kick off event for The Plunge Capital Campaign was a huge success, with live music, food trucks, and activities for all ages. The community came together to show their support and excitement for the pool’s revival. You can relive the event by watching the coverage on El Segundo Media’s YouTube channel.

But the City still needs your help to make this project a reality. Donations of any size are greatly appreciated and will go towards preserving this iconic piece of El Segundo history. Whether you have fond memories of swimming at The Plunge or simply want to be part of its future, every contribution makes a difference.
