Exciting things are happening at the beloved El Segundo Plunge! This week, the City began hosting special “Sneak Peeks” of the ongoing restoration project for some of its most generous donors.
Among those getting an exclusive look today were Richard Lundquist, Linda Johnson, and Sherry Kramer of South Bay Sports, Health & Recreation. They were joined by the enthusiastic Angela von Detten for a guided tour led by Joe Lormans of the City’s Rec & Parks-Aquatics Department.
The visit highlighted the significant progress being made to revitalize this cherished community hub. Angela von Detten’s heartfelt words truly captured the essence of the Plunge: “Pools aren’t just about swimming…it’s about making memories and bringing people and the community together. The von Detten family has been swimming at the El Segundo Plunge since 1990 and we hope to be making waves there in 2190 as well which is why we wanted to give back and support our local pool.”
This sentiment underscores the deep connection the community has with the Plunge and the importance of ensuring its longevity for future generations. The support of donors like South Bay Sports, Health & Recreation and the von Detten family is instrumental in making this vision a reality.
